Bundesliga Team of The Week (Matchday 26)

With the Bundesliga underway, you've got to have a stormer and not be an under-performer to get in this Team of the Week. Plaudits all round for these top boys...

Rune Jarstein

Jarstein was one of only five goalkeepers to keep a clean sheet in game week 26, as the Norwegian shot-stopper was a key performer in what was potentially the upset of the day and despite making just two saves, one of those hit him right where it hurts but anything for the win.

Benjamin Pavard

Pavard’s towering header from Joshua Kimmich’s corner was the French defender’s third goal for his new club. A threat both offensively and defensively, he completed 3 shots with one of them only just hitting the side netting and 3 tackles.

Jordan Torunarigha

Another Hertha player in the team of the week, the 22-year-old centre back put in an impressive display, with an excellent 94.4% of 72 passes completed. He was also credited with the assist for Matheus Cunha’s solo goal.

Manuel Gulde

Freiburg’s point away at RB Leipzig was potentially the biggest shock and centre back, Manuel Gulde was very influential in gaining their point. Despite clinching the first goal from a header, he was also a solid defensively, winning 4 aerial duels and completing 3 tackles, proving to be Leipzig’s nightmare.

Ramy Bensebaini

Algerian left-back, Bensebaini managed to score his 5th goal in just 12 appearances this season, with the latest coming from the penalty spot against Frankfurt. The Gladbach defender registered his first assist of the season with a driven cross to Thuram.

Raphael Guerreiro

The left-wing back was the star of the show against Schalke on Saturday, as he scored his 6th and 7th goals of the season with his excellent brace, both goals taken superbly well. The second of his 2 was a well improvised, outside of the foot goal. His performance was defensive as well as offensive, with his 5 completed tackles.

Julian Brandt

In what was a dominant display from Dortmund, Julian Brandt was the one pulling all the strings for BVB. He registered 2 assists and 3 key passes, as well as 3 dribbles and 5 completed tackles. His flair shown with his creative flick for the first goal.

Joshua Kimmich

The former right-back has really thrived in his new centre midfield berth. The young German had an 89% pass completion as well as 3 chances created and 1 assist. His defensive qualities shone through with 10 recoveries and 100% tackles rate, helping to thwart the Union Berlin attack.

Moussa Diaby

The young French winger was a thorn in Werder Bremen's side, with his pace and direct running causing 2 assists. Getting to the by-line and sticking crosses to Havertz and Weiser caused a regular threat.

Kai Havertz

Leverkusen’s Captain Fantastic plundered 2 goals against Werder Bremen. The 20-year-old scored one very good cushioned header and another bullet header not long after. He has been in sensational form since the winter break and this continued after the restart.

Erling Haaland

There is no surprise that the first goal scorer of the Bundesliga since the restart was the Boy Wonder. The Norwegian netted his 10th goal since arriving in January, emphatically highlighting his prolific nature in front of goal. His cushioned finish against Schalke was the opener in their comfortable 4-0 win.

So now, we sit back and wait until Friday night when we see the Berlin derby and more action across the weekend. Think I'm becoming a Bundesliga Ultra! Thank God football's back.
