The Premier League Returns

With the return of the Premier League and the drama, the VAR controversy, and last-minute goals here is a short sharp review of every team in the league. Top 4 battles, relegation scraps, and all-round football drama, it is shaping up to be an exciting season.



Liverpool have quite frankly been unstoppable, with an exciting front 3, a hard-working midfield and a solid back 4. Jurgen Klopp's men were very close to being invincible this season. The Red's always manage to find a way to win, whether it be a comfortable game or a last minute winner. They're only 6 points from the title!

Perhaps the surprise of the season, Leicester shocked everyone to get to the position they are in today. Brendan Rodgers' team went on a rampage, with Vardy topping goal-scoring charts the Foxes' found themselves as the only hope to stop Liverpool winning the league.

Arsenal have had a shocker of a season finding themselves in 9th, miles away from where they would want to be. Unai Emery's departure was perhaps too late in the season for them to recover. Arteta has shown glimpses of exciting football and with his possession style of gameplay, Arsenal fans can be excited about the future.

The most in-form team in the league, after Liverpool, Burnley have managed to grind out wins in a typical Burnley way. Always looking a threat from set-pieces, Burnley is a team who has always thrived on defensive solidity, so perhaps it should be no surprise Nick Pope has kept a good number of clean sheets this season. However, his 11 shutouts are the highest of any goalkeeper in the division, including Ederson and Alisson.

Roy Hodgson's men have been fairly consistent this season, despite flirting with the bottom 5 for a bit. Crystal Palace is the only side in the top four divisions of English football yet to score in the opening 15 minutes of a game this season. Palace has the joint-hardest run-in based on points per game picked up by their remaining opposition in the Premier League this season.

Everton started off terribly, by their standards, however, once the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, Everton have turned their season around. Everton have lost three games at Goodison Park - against Sheffield United, Norwich and Manchester City - while they also were behind for 27 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham in November.
